History

In 1942, Texas trucking pioneer, Cy Weller, began establishing truckload carriers in Texas. In 1948, demand for hauling refrigerated merchandise became strong. Mr. Weller added refrigerated trucking to his portfolio. He soon discovered the importance of refrigeration repair expertise.  Being a great businessman, he began searching for this talent.  Mr. Weller hired Walter Brooks, the most renowned transport refrigeration specialist of his day.

Mr. Weller and Mr. Brooks formed W&B Service Company in 1952.  In this same year, W&B was awarded the Transicold dealership, becoming the Nation’s first Transicold dealer.  The early days were spent supporting the Weller family companies and over time W&B Service Company began supporting other refrigerated trucking businesses.

In 2000, John Chisolm purchased the company from Frozen Food Express, the parent company of the businesses founded by Cy Weller. As a stand-alone entity and under Chisolm’s leadership, W&B began to expand beyond Texas.

Tracey Maynor joined the company as President and COO in 2011.  Under his leadership, W&B Service Company added Trailer Sales, by signing as an authorized dealer for Hyundai Translead.
In March 2013, Mr. Maynor purchased W&B from John Chisolm, becoming the third owner of our company. Since his purchase, the company has seen exponential growth, increasing from 167 employees in 2011 to over 350 in 2017. When asked, Maynor will tell you: “our customers and our amazing team is responsible for our growth, each and every member of the W&B family remains laser focused on service.”

Not willing to stand still, Maynor purchased Superior Trailer Sales Company in May 2018, further expanding the company’s product offerings into flatbed and heavy haul trailers. Together, W&B Service Company and Superior Trailer Sales form the most comprehensive dealership for all things behind the cab of your truck: refrigeration units, semi-trailers, truck-bodies, liftgates, APUs, and telematics.

Today, W&B has locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana and remains the largest Carrier Transicold dealer in the Nation, and Superior Trailer Sales is the Nation’s top dealer for Hyundai Translead, Fontaine, Dorsey, Doonan; and regularly rank in the top three for all other OEM’s. We now have more than 600 folks, all focused on providing you, our customer, with an exceptional experience.

W&B Service Company continues to build upon the company’s long-established legacy of sales and service excellence. Being the most service-oriented company in the transportation equipment industry will always be our goal!
